What the study showed, in plain terms

This publication examines serum mk-4 and mk-7 concentrations. Study population or evidence base: Healthy Japanese women in single-dose and repeated-dose experiments. Intervention or exposure: MK-4 or MK-7: 420 μg once, and 60 μg/day for 7 days.

Key findings

MK-7 produced measurable, sustained blood concentrations, whereas nutritional-dose MK-4 was not detectably increased using the study's assay and sampling schedule.

What this study can and cannot tell us

Small pharmacokinetic experiments measure circulating exposure, not clinical superiority. Undetectable serum MK-4 does not by itself prove no tissue activity.
