What the study showed, in plain terms

This publication examines bone mineral density, fracture incidence, osteocalcin carboxylation, adverse events. Study population or evidence base: 16 randomized trials involving 6,425 participants. Intervention or exposure: Different K2 regimens, alone or with other osteoporosis treatments.

Key findings

The pooled analysis favored K2 for lumbar spine density and osteocalcin measures. Fracture incidence was neutral overall and became favorable only after excluding a heterogeneous study.

What this study can and cannot tell us

Fracture conclusions were sensitive to study selection. Trials differed in K2 form, dose and co-treatment, limiting direct application to a particular MK-7 supplement.
