The best TMG supplement for you should identify betaine anhydrous clearly, state the amount per unit and fit the way you plan to use it. Our preferred capsule option is DoNotAge Pure TMG, rated 5/5 in our editorial review. Its appeal is a straightforward 500 mg capsule, a plant-based shell and a choice of pack sizes.
Commercial relationship: Biohack Blueprint is a DoNotAge affiliate and can earn commission from qualifying purchases. Our top capsule choice reflects the criteria below. It is not a claim that this product is the lowest-priced option or has superior clinical outcomes to every other TMG product.
How we compare TMG products
- Correct form: betaine anhydrous rather than an HCl digestive product.
- Clear amount: milligrams per capsule or tablet, and the full serving.
- Formula: active ingredients and the capsule or tablet ingredients.
- Practical format: fixed units, measurement needs and pack choice.
- Documentation and value: what testing information is available and what an equal amount costs.
These are shopping criteria. Clinical evidence still needs to match the goal. A well-labeled capsule cannot establish an unproven anti-aging claim, and a 415-publication library is not 415 trials of one brand’s retail product.
1. DoNotAge Pure TMG: our preferred capsule option
Each capsule provides 500 mg of trimethylglycine. The manufacturer lists a 1,000 mg daily serving and describes TMG inside a hypromellose vegetable capsule, without additional active ingredients. One-time packs contain 60 or 366 capsules.
This is convenient if you prefer a fixed unit rather than weighing powder. The smaller pack offers a shorter initial purchase, while the larger pack reduces the cost per gram within this product’s range. At the listed two-capsule serving, the packs last 30 and 183 days respectively.
DoNotAge says it conducts in-house and third-party testing and makes certificates available on request. We have assessed the label and research, rather than independently testing a current retail lot. See the full Pure TMG review for the rating basis, regional prices and questions to ask about documentation.
Who should choose a different option?
Our preferred capsule is not automatically the best purchase for every constraint. DoNotAge’s 500 mg units suit people who value a plain single-active capsule and flexible unit counting. A powder can be more economical per gram, while a larger tablet can reduce the number of units at some comparison amounts. The actual formula, serving and swallowing/measuring preferences still matter.
| Your priority | What may fit | Trade-off to examine |
|---|---|---|
| Plain capsule and 500 mg units | DoNotAge Pure TMG | Convenience comes at a higher cost per gram than bulk powder |
| Lower upfront cost for a small capsule pack | Compare the listed Life Extension option | Check the capsule vehicle and the total grams, not just the bottle price |
| More active ingredient in each unit | Compare the NOW 1,000 mg tablet | A tablet’s size and excipients can affect preference; the label serving is three tablets |
| Lowest ingredient cost per gram among this shortlist | Compare the listed BulkSupplements powder | Weighing, storage and handling replace fixed capsule units |
| A B-vitamin complex | Assess the entire formula separately | Additional ingredients are not automatically useful, and change both exposure and the evidence comparison |
This shortlist compares actual formats and labels rather than claiming that one brand has proven superior clinical effects. We have not independently assayed the current retail lots or conducted a head-to-head trial of these products. Manufacturer testing statements are identified as such.

Other anhydrous TMG formats to compare
| Product | TMG amount | Format and pack | Formula detail |
|---|---|---|---|
| DoNotAge Pure TMG | 500 mg per capsule; 1,000 mg listed daily serving | 60 or 366 capsules | TMG in a vegetable-cellulose capsule, per manufacturer |
| Life Extension TMG | 500 mg per capsule; 1,000 mg per two-capsule serving | 60 liquid vegetarian capsules | Also lists glycerin, vegetable cellulose and purified water |
| NOW TMG Betaine | 1,000 mg per tablet; 3,000 mg per three-tablet facts-panel serving | 100 tablets | Lists tablet binders, coating and other excipients |
| BulkSupplements Betaine Anhydrous | Weigh the actual powder amount | Powder; multiple pack sizes, including 500 g | Powder listing states no additives; check the selected variant’s label |
Different excipients do not automatically mean that one product is unsafe or ineffective. The purpose of the comparison is to show what you are buying. For NOW, a 1,000 mg tablet and a three-tablet facts-panel serving are different numbers; neither should be mistaken for a universal dose recommendation.
Compare price per gram, not just price per bottle
The following are displayed US one-time prices checked on 18 October 2026, before shipping, tax or discounts. They are a dated snapshot, not a guaranteed checkout quote.
| Selected pack | Displayed price | Total TMG | Approximate price per gram |
|---|---|---|---|
| DoNotAge, 60 × 500 mg | US$20.00 | 30 g | US$0.67 |
| DoNotAge, 366 × 500 mg | US$95.00 | 183 g | US$0.52 |
| Life Extension, 60 × 500 mg | US$10.13 | 30 g | US$0.34 |
| NOW, 100 × 1,000 mg | US$27.99 | 100 g | US$0.28 |
| BulkSupplements, 500 g powder | US$24.97 | 500 g | US$0.05 |
The calculation is pack price ÷ total grams. For a capsule example, 60 × 500 mg ÷ 1,000 = 30 g. Powder can be economical per gram; capsules trade that measurement step for fixed units. Our preferred capsule selection therefore includes convenience and formula preferences, not only the lowest price.
Subscriptions, member prices and promotional bundles have different terms. Reader code BB10 offers 10% off eligible DoNotAge orders; confirm the displayed discount and any stacking restrictions at checkout.
Pack duration and equal-dose value
For DoNotAge, 60 capsules contain 30 g TMG in total and 366 capsules contain 183 g. At the product page’s two-capsule daily serving, those are 30 and 183 days. At one capsule per day, the larger pack lasts 366 days—but that is a different daily amount. A “year’s supply” label should always be read with its serving assumption.
| Pack | Total TMG | Duration at two capsules/day | US one-time cost per 1 g |
|---|---|---|---|
| DoNotAge 60 × 500 mg | 30 g | 30 days | About $0.67, from $20 ÷ 30 g |
| DoNotAge 366 × 500 mg | 183 g | 183 days | About $0.52, from $95 ÷ 183 g |
Prices were checked on 18 October 2026, before shipping, tax, reader discounts or subscription terms. The calculation compares the same gram of ingredient; it does not prescribe a one-gram dose. The BB10 code may reduce eligible orders, with final terms confirmed at checkout.
A quick calculation for any TMG product
Total grams = units × milligrams of active TMG per unit ÷ 1,000. Divide the comparable bottle price by that total for cost per gram. For powder, use the actual net weight of the selected variant. Then add delivery costs and consider how much of the pack you realistically expect to use before expiry.
For example, a 100-tablet product at 1,000 mg per tablet contains 100 g. A 60-capsule product at 500 mg contains 30 g. The tablet bottle has more than three times as much TMG even though the unit counts do not look dramatically different. Equal-dose comparison prevents capsule count and bottle price from pulling the decision in different directions.
US, UK and Canadian shopping context
DoNotAge’s regional listings showed the following one-time prices when checked: US$20/95, £16/76 and CA$29/136 for the 60/366-capsule packs. The site offers US, UK and Canadian storefront selections. Confirm delivery availability, tax and the final landed cost for your address at checkout.
NOW also maintains a separate Canadian product page. A US facts panel and a Canadian product listing may use different directions, so buy against the label for your market. For other brands, verify the selected retailer, destination and delivery charge rather than assuming the US page is your local checkout.
Capsules, tablets or powder?
Capsules make the unit amount easy to count. A 500 mg unit allows different arithmetic from a 1,000 mg tablet, although that flexibility does not justify exceeding the directions. Tablets can provide a larger amount per unit but include formulation ingredients for manufacture and stability. Powder allows weighed amounts and can reduce cost per gram, but requires an appropriate scale.
There is no established general outcome advantage of a capsule simply because it looks premium, or of a powder simply because it dissolves. Compare the actual compound and amount first.

What should a certificate of analysis tell you?
A useful document identifies the product or ingredient, the lot, the laboratory, the test date and the methods or results. Identity, potency and contamination are separate questions. A certificate for NMN does not verify a TMG lot, and a claim of manufacturing certification is not itself a finished-product assay.
Our review describes the manufacturer’s stated testing access without implying that Biohack Blueprint independently assayed the product. Request the current document if that information matters to your purchase.
What a useful lot document should resolve
Look for a batch identifier that matches the product, the tested material, the test date, the laboratory, identity/assay methods and appropriate contaminant results with units and limits. A generic marketing certificate or a raw-material sheet may not answer the same question as a finished-product lot report.
A “99% purity” statement is not a complete safety assessment, and neither “third-party tested” nor “pharmaceutical grade” establishes clinical superiority. If independent sport certification matters to you, verify the exact product in the certifier’s current database rather than assuming that a brand’s other certified products cover its TMG.
DoNotAge says certificates are available on request. That is a useful route to ask questions, but our review does not claim that we obtained and independently verified the current lot’s laboratory report.
Why the first-ranked option is not simply the cheapest gram
DoNotAge Pure TMG earns our first position for the stated capsule use case: a single active ingredient, 500 mg units, a vegan capsule and clear smaller- or larger-pack choices. A bulk powder can cost less per gram while requiring weighing and handling. A 1,000 mg tablet can reduce unit count while changing tablet size and excipients. Those are real preferences, rather than evidence that a cheaper or larger unit works better clinically.
The manufacturer’s testing policy is useful information, but a current lot certificate answers a more specific question. Match the lot, assay and analytes before describing a product as independently verified. Our 5/5 review is a label-and-evidence assessment, not a claim of an independent batch assay or a customer-rating average.
For clinical claims, return to the ingredient evidence: TMG can lower homocysteine, but no capsule brand is established by those studies as preventing cardiovascular events or extending life. Product execution and clinical-outcome certainty remain separate parts of the buying decision. [1] [2]
