What the study showed, in plain terms

This publication examines pet measures of active arterial calcification, ct calcification mass, dp-ucmgp. Study population or evidence base: 68 adults with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease randomized. Intervention or exposure: MK-7 360 μg/day or placebo.

Key findings

MK-7 improved dp-ucMGP but did not significantly improve CT calcification. PET activity tended to increase, a finding whose clinical interpretation was uncertain.

What this study can and cannot tell us

A small, short trial using an emerging imaging marker. The systemic-calcification and bone-density report is a secondary analysis of the same trial.
