What the study showed, in plain terms

This randomized crossover study tested whether mixing bovine collagen hydrolysate into coffee changed absorption compared with water. Coffee altered some free-amino-acid kinetics, but the key measured collagen-derived peptides showed similar pharmacokinetic exposure in coffee and water.

Key findings

Free hydroxyproline and proline showed differences in post-dose plasma profiles between coffee and water. For measured bioactive peptides, iAUC, Cmax and Tmax were reported as similar between the two matrices.

What this study can and cannot tell us

This was a single-dose pharmacokinetic study with no clinical skin, joint, bone or muscle outcomes. Multiple authors were employees of Rousselot, the collagen manufacturer. The published abstracts do not report sample size or the collagen dose, so this record does not infer those values.
