What the study showed, in plain terms

This 2026 crossover study tested whether adding mustard-seed myrosinase to a glucoraphanin-rich broccoli seed extract changes how much sulforaphane the body actually receives.

Key findings

Adding mustard-seed myrosinase approximately doubled average sulforaphane bioavailability: 39.8% versus 18.6% without the exogenous enzyme. Conversion during the first eight hours was also substantially higher with myrosinase.

What this study can and cannot tell us

The study was small and tested a single dose in healthy adults. It demonstrates a pharmacokinetic advantage for the tested myrosinase combination but does not establish superior long-term health outcomes.
