What the study showed, in plain terms

This human feeding study compared sulforaphane exposure after fresh broccoli sprouts versus a myrosinase-treated broccoli sprout extract, and also compared once-daily with split dosing.

Key findings

Fresh sprouts produced roughly three times higher sulforaphane metabolite levels than the treated extract. Splitting the daily dose maintained higher plasma metabolite levels later in the dosing interval. The measured molecular targets did not show clear dose responses.

What this study can and cannot tell us

The study included only 10 participants and focused on short-term absorption and mechanistic endpoints rather than clinical outcomes. Results apply to the tested preparations and should not be generalized to every broccoli-sprout extract.
