What the study showed, in plain terms

This network meta-analysis compared several pretreatment strategies for women with poor ovarian response undergoing IVF. CoQ10 was associated with higher clinical pregnancy and live-birth odds versus control in the network analysis, but these estimates combine direct and indirect evidence and should not be treated as definitive proof that CoQ10 improves live birth.

Key findings

Across 16 randomized trials involving 2,323 women, the network analysis estimated higher clinical pregnancy odds with CoQ10 versus control (OR 2.22, 95% CI 1.05-4.71) and higher live-birth odds (OR 2.36, 95% CI 1.07-5.38).

What this study can and cannot tell us

Network meta-analysis depends on assumptions that allow indirect comparisons across different trials, populations, and treatment protocols. The CoQ10-specific direct evidence was smaller than the full 16-trial network, and uncertainty remains around treatment protocols and robustness of live-birth estimates.
