What the study showed, in plain terms

Sixteen healthy men received a single 100 mg oral dose of deuterium-labelled CoQ10 so researchers could characterize its human plasma pharmacokinetics.

Average peak plasma concentration occurred several hours after dosing and the terminal half-life was roughly 33 hours, showing that CoQ10 behaves very differently from a rapidly cleared stimulant.

Key findings

Mean time to peak plasma concentration was 6.5 ± 1.5 hours.

Mean terminal half-life was 33.19 ± 5.32 hours.

A second plasma peak around 24 hours was observed in most participants.

What this study can and cannot tell us

The study was small, included only healthy men, used an older formulation and analytical approach, and measured pharmacokinetics rather than symptoms or clinical outcomes.

It did not compare morning with evening dosing, so it cannot establish an ideal clock time for taking CoQ10.
