What the study showed, in plain terms

This foundational animal study tracked radiolabeled apigenin after a single oral dose to map absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination.

Key findings

Apigenin showed slow absorption and elimination in rats, broad metabolite formation and sex-related differences in the balance of glucuronide versus sulfate conjugates.

What this study can and cannot tell us

Rat pharmacokinetics cannot be directly converted into human supplement bioavailability or dosing. Later human studies are more directly relevant for exposure estimates.
