What the study showed, in plain terms

This crossover trial directly compared a glucoraphanin-rich broccoli sprout beverage with a beverage in which glucoraphanin had already been converted to sulforaphane by myrosinase.

Key findings

Average urinary bioavailability was about 70% with the sulforaphane-rich beverage versus about 5% with the glucoraphanin-rich beverage. The sulforaphane-rich preparation also produced much less interindividual variability, while the glucoraphanin-rich preparation showed slower elimination.

What this study can and cannot tell us

This was a short-term pharmacokinetic trial in healthy adults. It establishes major formulation-dependent differences in exposure but does not show that the higher-exposure formulation produces better long-term clinical outcomes.
