Study snapshot

DesignSix-month randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trial.
ModelAdults aged 30–81 years, Kellgren–Lawrence grade II–III knee OA.
Sample120 randomized; 60 active and 60 placebo; all completed.
Intervention10 g/day 1–3 kDa bovine type I/III collagen peptides plus 80 mg vitamin C (COLLinstant) versus placebo.
Duration6 months
EndpointsVAS pain; Lequesne algofunctional index; CRP; ESR; Tolerability

What the study showed, in plain terms

This trial reported less knee pain and better function with a 10 g/day collagen-peptide supplement containing 80 mg vitamin C over six months in 120 adults with moderate knee osteoarthritis. Because the intervention combined ingredients and used the proprietary COLLinstant preparation, the result is not an exact-product trial of DoNotAge collagen powder.

Key findings

The active group improved versus placebo on VAS pain, Lequesne function, CRP and ESR at six months (reported p<0.001); no adverse effects were reported.

What this study can and cannot tell us

The formulation includes vitamin C, so collagen-only effects are not isolated. Results concern symptom and biomarker outcomes, not cartilage regeneration or prevention of joint replacement. Findings cannot be transferred automatically to DoNotAge's generic bovine peptides.
