Study snapshot

DesignRandomized pilot dose-escalation feeding study
ModelHealthy young adult men
Sample5
InterventionControl or low, medium and high doses of a formulation containing spermidine, nicotinamide, PEA and OEA after a standardized breakfast
DurationAcute single-dose sessions with blood sampling over 4 hours after supplementation (through 6 hours postprandial)
EndpointsPlasma spermidine; Metabolite absorption; TNF-alpha response; Reactive oxygen species; Cholesterol efflux capacity

What the study showed, in plain terms

In five men, a multi-ingredient fasting-mimetic formulation was tested across escalating doses. The study provides preliminary absorption and ex-vivo functional data but cannot isolate spermidine's contribution.

Key findings

Plasma spermidine did not show a simple dose-related rise; the combined supplement altered other components and ex-vivo inflammatory/oxidative measures. This is formulation research, not direct evidence for standalone spermidine efficacy.

What this study can and cannot tell us

Only five participants, acute time course, multi-ingredient formulation and surrogate/ex-vivo endpoints. The findings are exploratory.
