What the study showed, in plain terms

COVFIS-HOME was a Phase 2 placebo-controlled pilot trial of oral fisetin in at-risk, community-dwelling adults with COVID-19. It extended the senolytic-COVID hypothesis beyond skilled nursing facilities.

The trial is completed. ClinicalTrials.gov reports actual enrollment of 55 participants, study completion on September 27, 2022, and posted registry results. It should no longer be described as recruitment complete with results pending.

Because this was a COVID-19 clinical-outcome trial rather than a dedicated tissue senescence study, it does not by itself establish whether oral fisetin clears senescent cells in human organs.

Key findings

  • Completed Phase 2 placebo-controlled pilot trial with 55 actual participants.
  • Registry results are posted on ClinicalTrials.gov.
  • The study examined COVID-19 complications and safety rather than direct proof of systemic senescent-cell clearance.
  • No peer-reviewed results publication is currently attached to this Biohack Blueprint record.

What this study can and cannot tell us

  • Small pilot sample limits statistical precision and generalizability.
  • The population and clinical context were acute COVID-19, not healthy aging.
  • Registry results should not be treated as equivalent to an independently peer-reviewed full results paper.
